bass // techno
KLEFT is the bass influenced techno alias of Glasgow based musician Vickie McDonald (they/them) who is heavily rooted in underground DIY queer noise and punk. Through a tiredness of misogynistic club politics, they explore themes of transhumanism, digital flesh and the body, aiming towards ‘’the utopian dream of the hope for a monstrous world without gender’’
Being in the scene for years, they have played numerous
festivals and gigs, local and international, such as Listen Again in Aberdeen, Wiener Festwochen in Vienna, Sonica festival and Berlin’s OHM.
In the past, they have supported the likes of
L U C Y, Sicaria Sound, Via App, Rev Magnetic, Drew McDowell, Rabit and Giant Swan.
Being recognised by Red Bull as one of the most exciting
rising producers in the UK, among object blue, Anz, Loraine James and Mina, KLEFT is providing unique live sets every time focusing on darker, bassy side of music.
Their album ‘H+Sexualis’ has been featured by
FACTMAG as one of the best releases of 2019, as
well as featured in Resident Advisor.
